OUR NEW JUDGE:
THE HONORABLE JOY PARKS

Gov. Nathan Deal Wednesday announced appointments to fill several judicial vacancies around the state, including Joy R. Parks to a judgeship in the Enotah Judicial Circuit.

Parks will fill the vacancy in the Enotah Judicial Circuit created by the resignation of the Hon. Murphy C. Miller.

Parks expressed her appreciation for the confidence the governor placed in her.

“I look forward to serving the people of the circuit,” Parks said Wednesday. “I’m extremely honored by the trust that has been put in me and I just pray that I will live up to all of those expectations.”

Parks currently is the chief magistrate judge of White County Magistrate Court, and she owns her own law firm.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

Ms. Barbara and Sheriff Palmer from Cherokee County, N.C. share the podium at the Public Policy Network.
